The Possibilities Are Endless…

So J wanted to know what the tooth fairy looked like.

Mo drew her the following picture:

“No. That looks too much like an angel,” J told her.  “Draw another one…”

The second one satisfied her a little more:

Then Grandad drew his version of the tooth fairy:

“A man in woman’s clothes?” Jaiden said out loud.

No wonder she was worried that the tooth fairy might wake her up when she-man lifted her pillow up.

Tale of a Tooth…

Tell me this isn’t happening. On Friday afternoon when I picked J up, she ran straight to me to tell me she had a loose tooth. I scooped her up in my lap, hugged her, and rocked her back and forth telling her I didn’t know if I was ready for her to lose her baby teeth yet. Later that day, I overheard her tell someone that her tooth was loose, but that she wasn’t sure if she was ready for it to come out or not. :)

I sent my sister a text to tell her, and her initial response was my exact thought at that moment.

“How exciting…and a little sad.”

Then she added that Rhett would be mad.

We left for Mo and Grandad’s that same evening. She wiggled it most of the way. By that night and all day Saturday it was hanging by a thread. I predicted she would lose it in her sleep. When she woke up she came and got in the bed with Mario and me. As she laid there, she was wiggling it, and it came all the way out! Mo found an empty film canister for us to store it in until bedtime.

I am out of town with Mario tonight, but as far as I know, the tooth fairy is lined up for a visit. When we left this afternoon I hugged her and said, “Try not to lose any more teeth before I get back, girl!” She smiled so sweetly and said, “I will, but if I do, it won’t be my fault…it will be the teeth’s fault.”

Have I mentioned that I love this girl???

Allium giganteum (Giant Onion)

IMG_1131

I know it doesn’t make for the most exciting blog topic, but I am sort of excited that I grew these things by complete accident. As a matter of fact, I didn’t even know what they were until my ninth grade neighbor walked by my flower bed and commented on my huge onions.

“Ummm…thank you! I’ve been working really hard to keep those up.”

Not really.

I asked him if he was sure it was an onion. He snapped the leaves and smelled of them. “Definitely an onion,” he said. Any of you experts out there feel free to speak up if you agree or disagree that this is in fact an onion.

Then he asked me if he could pull them up and take them home to show his mom and sister. He asked how I grew them so big. I just watered it like crazy. Piece of cake.

Why can’t keeping the real plants up around this place be that easy?

Growing Up and Graduating…

Major milestone in the Thomas household this past month—we have a graduate on our hands!  Can’t believe how the time has flown by since I posted this as I reacted like a typical overwhelmed and emotional mother dropping her child off at school for the first time.

When asked if she was excited about being an official kindergartener she said she was “excited…but a little nervous.”

Followed by tears because she wanted the same teachers and classmates…like forever.

I tried to explain to her that a few of the kids might be going to school with her next year, but for the most part they would be going different places and each year she would have new teachers.  The first picture makes me smile though, because this is a friend for life, I believe!

1. Do these look like future valedictorians or what?

2. Are these little graduation caps on preschoolers not the cutest stinkin’ things?!

…Giggling because every time they would turn around, Jeryn would try to pull their tassels!

A proud mama!

With “NeNe”…she did a great job in helping to prepare her for pre-k and has been with her since J was only 6 weeks old.

With Miss Kathy(left) and Miss Lisa (right).  Thank you for being such fabulous teachers!  We will always remember you both!

She did extremely well on her skills checklists (they did them in December and again this spring).  I want to share what her teacher wrote about her back in December so that I will always remember it!  (I will add the most recent one later, but right now I’m not sure where it is?? and I had this one handy:

Jaiden is a sweet & smart girl who really loves school and is always eager to learn something new! She works well in large & small group activities and gets along well with others! She is very respectful &helpful in class and a great joy to me! – Miss Lisa

And a GREAT joy to us!
