Once, Twice, Three Times Fair Goers

Last week was our county fair.  I have NO desire to go to the actual fair but every year I take the kids to the parade and just to see the animals.  That part I always enjoy!  Usually I only go once.  This year we had to go three times because Jeryn talked incessantly about going back to see the animals. ha!

But as far as I can tell, he was really enjoying it all:

Does this look like a kid that’s grateful that his mom woke him up early from his nap at the sitters, braved the crowds, parked in another county and drug lawn chairs, happy meals, cameras and kids  for three miles to watch a (very long) parade????  I should also mention that after walking the first mile, Jaiden decided she HAD to go to the bathroom, so we turned around and went back to find a local business that was willing to let us in.  Okay, maybe it wasn’t quite three miles, but it sure seemed like it.

We went back a third time after school so Jaiden could come along:

Friday was a great day. Mario had been gone all week and got in Thursday night.  He was off on Friday so we took Bubby to see the animals that morning and then went and had lunch with Jaiden.  Afterward, he needed to get a haircut, and Jeryn was needing to be edged up a little.  Mario has always wanted to take him to the barber shop, but after THIS haircut…

I was a little gun shy!  He (Mario) did this while I was watching (and maybe screaming and crying a little that it was too short!).  What would he do if I let him out of sight at an actual barber shop???  (And for the record this picture doesn’t do it justice as to HOW short it really was…I looked for another picture but I guess I didn’t take many during that time because I was aggravated.  This picture was actually made a week or two after the cut.) We always just cut his hair at home, but it has gotten to be a joke because after Mario cut it so low I hide the clippers and only get them out if he is away!

He promised me not to buzz him and I promised to relax.  I needed to run to my office so I dropped them off.  A little while later, Mario asked me if I could come back and get his picture…he had fallen sound asleep in the chair WHILE the clippers were running!

He even stayed asleep after Mario carried him to the car and put him in the seat :)

Yesterday was our anniversary and I started a post but never finished it because I worked pretty much all weekend.  Hopefully we will celebrate this weekend and maybe I’ll finish that post.

Horse Crazy Kid

This could be headed toward a fight. Two kids. One pony.

IMG_2709

I’ll take first turn, thank you very much.

IMG_2726

I’m not liking the sound of this…I just heard someone say that it’s almost Jaiden’s turn…Already??? I just got on!

IMG_2732

I want to be tough but…

IMG_2735

This is just plain hard….

IMG_2736

I mean REALLY hard…

IMG_2737

I can’t watch this…

 IMG_2743

Do they even notice I’m crying??

IMG_2746

No tears there. Just smiles in that direction…

IMG_2745

Oh, wheww! They saw me.  Back in the saddle again.  All smiles.

Big Day Today…

It’s been a big day at our house!!! My big five year old had her first soccer game for the fall season this morning, lost her second bottom tooth around noon, and learned to ride her bike without training wheels this evening!  She was so sweet putting her tooth container under her pillow tonight :) We are so proud of you, Jaido!  Let’s hope we get a visit from one of the tooth fairies…

Want to pretend?

While I like to try and be somewhat fashionable, I am by no means a “shopper.” I love to have a new shirt, outfit, shoes, etc, but it stresses me out to go shopping and it’s just not all that fun to me.  I come by it honest.  As previous posts reveal, there is never a dull moment around my mom. But one place you will NOT catch her is at the mall.

In my pre-teen years I can remember traveling a couple of hours to a mall before school started each year to get some school clothes.  I never understood why my mom looked so stressed in all of the stores until I grew up to feel the same way!  Ha!  Could it be that it costs money to buy things and as a grown up there are plenty of places that money needs to be spent besides at the mall?? :)

Growing up we used to get tons of magazines, and so I think it turned me into more of a magazine shopper.  The last time I was home I found a magazine with some of the most adorable clothes for little girls.  One problem: they were RIDICULOUSLY HIGH.  Since nothing in the catalog fit into my budget, I am going to PRETEND (key word is PRETEND) that I just won a $1,000 gift card to chasing-fireflies in a recent drawing and I am picking out my favorite outfits for Jaiden from their new fall catalog!  Here we go…

I love the teal and black one and that little girl sort of reminds me of Jaiden.  J also wears her hair like that sometimes, and it is still one of my favorite ways for her to wear it :)

Isn’t this stuff adorable???

And I wish I could get one of these pink velour hooded outfits for myself! :)

Slideshow

Always Too Soon To Leave

Finally getting around to putting up a few pictures from our visit to Mo and Grandad's the weekend before last.  As always, plenty to do, and we had to leave way too soon!  Here are a few of my favorites and then I put everything else into a slide show because I took so many.

We are recovering from the stomach virus at our house.  ALL OF US.  It has been a rough several days, but hopefully we are on the mend!
